This evocative romantic drama explores the passionate relationship of French fashion icon Coco Chanel and radical Russian composer Igor Stravinsky.
Coco Chanel (Anna Mouglalis) meets Igor Stravinsky (Mads Mikkelsen) at the disastrous 1913 premiere of Stravinsky's controversial work 'The Rite of Spring'. The performance mesmerises Chanel, but the audience reacts with such hostility that Stravinsky is inconsolable. Seven years later they meet again in Paris after the First World War and the Russian Revolution. By now Chanel is both rich and respected, whereas Stravinsky is a penniless refugee. However, there is an immediate powerful attraction and Chanel decides to shelter Stravinsky, offering him her villa 'Bel Respiro' as a sanctuary for his composing. Chanel is also immersed in work of her own, creating the revolutionary and soon-to-be iconic perfume Chanel No5. Stravinsky moves in, along with his children and consumptive wife. And so commences a passionate and fiery love affair between two creative giants ...
