An ambitious investigator's life changes when she's sent undercover with an anarchist group in this provocative eco-thriller. Former FBI agent Sarah (Brit Marling) is eager to prove herself in the private sector. Her shadowy new employers Hiller Brood, who fiercely protect multinational corporations, send her to infiltrate an organisation called The East. A new arrival on the eco-activism scene, this anarchist collective has been making waves by inflicting imaginative clandestine 'eye for an eye' revenge on polluters. Sarah succeeds in befriending activists Doc (Toby Kebbell) and Izzy (Ellen Page), but soon finds herself falling for their charismatic strategist, Benji (Alexander Skarsgard). As she begins to question her own morality, she becomes torn between her espionage duties and the lure of going rogue. A Sundance and SXSW festival hit, 'The East' is co-written by director Zal Batmanglij and 'Another Earth' star Brit Marling, who previously collaborated on the acclaimed 'Sound of My Voice'.
