Anna and Elsa are back in the first trailer for Disney's Frozen 2

screen-poster

It's not time to let it go just yet – because the first trailer for Disney sequel Frozen 2 has swept online in a blizzard of nostalgic awesomeness.

Not much is revealed about the plot, but the animation looks gorgeous and it reunites us with our favourite characters. We begin with ice-manipulating Elsa (Idina Menzel) attempting to use her powers to cross a tempestuous sea – this is presumably what writer Jennifer Kent is alluding to when she says the story "goes beyond Arendelle".

Further evidence of this comes further on as Elsa, her sister Anna (Kristen Bell), Kristoff (Jonathan Groff), reindeer Sven and snowman Olaf (Josh Gad) gaze out over an arrestingly autumnal landscape.

We also get Kristoff leading an army of reindeer into what looks like a battle, plus hints of a brand new soundtrack. Kent has already promised new songs to rival the original film's sensational 'Let It Go' – hardly surprising given the original movie's Oscar-winning songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez are back for more. Check out the trailer below.

Frozen was one of Disney's biggest-ever hits, grossing $1.2 billion at the global box office and spawning two animated short films: Frozen Fever in 2015 and Olaf’s Frozen Adventure in 2017.

Can Frozen 2 possibly top its predecessor? The movie reaches us on 22nd November 2019, so tweet us your thoughts @Cineworld.
