Billie Eilish is writing the Bond theme for No Time To Die

The James Bond 007 Twitter page has confirmed that Billie Eilish is writing the theme song for No Time To Die. Speculation had been raging that Beyonce would contribute her first 007 tune, but responsibility has instead fallen to Eilish, who has written the (unnamed) number with her brother, Finneas.

At 18 years old, Eilish is the youngest person ever to write and record a Bond song. She follows in the footsteps of some of the world's most popular artists, including Shirley Bassey (Goldfinger; Diamonds are Forever; Moonraker), Carly Simon (The Spy Who Loved Me) and Adele (Skyfall, for which she won an Oscar).

Eilish said in a statement: “It feels crazy to be a part of this in every way. To be able to score the theme song to a film that is part of such a legendary series is a huge honour. James Bond is the coolest film franchise ever to exist. I’m still in shock.”

The Los Angeles-born Eilish hit the big time with her 2019 debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, the best-performing album of the year in the USA. Eilish is the recipient of multiple Grammy nominations, eight gold and four platinum singles. And if you don't know her name (we're not paraphrasing the theme song from Casino Royale, by the way), then you'll have heard her pulsating 'Bad Guy' used in the trailer for Oscar-nominated drama Bombshell.

No Time To Die is released on the 12th of November, and will be Daniel Craig's final movie as 007. Cary Fukunaga directs and Hans Zimmer will compose the score, with the cast including Rami Malek, Lea Seydoux, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Lashana Lynch, Naomie Harris and Ana de Armas.
