Instant Family

What's the story? When Pete (Mark Wahlberg) and Ellie (Rose Byrne) decide to start a family, they stumble into the world of foster care adoption. They hope to take in one small child but when they meet three siblings, including a rebellious 15 year old girl (Isabela Moner), they find themselves speeding from zero to three kids overnight. Now, Pete and Ellie must hilariously try to learn the ropes of instant parenthood in the hopes of becoming a family. INSTANT FAMILY is inspired by the real events from the life of writer/director Sean Anders and also stars Octavia Spencer, Tig Notaro and Margo Martindale.

The Kid Who Would Be King

What's the story? Old school magic meets the modern world in the epic adventure THE KID WHO WOULD BE KING. Alex (Ashbourne Serkis) thinks he's just another nobody, until he stumbles upon the mythical Sword in the Stone, Excalibur. Now, he must unite his friends and enemies into a band of knights and, together with the legendary wizard Merlin (Stewart), take on the wicked enchantress Morgana (Ferguson). With the future at stake, Alex must become the great leader he never dreamed he could be.

If Beale Street Could Talk (expanded release)

What's the story? Academy Award-winner Barry Jenkins (Moonlight) brings his highly anticipated next feature to the screen, an adaptation of James Baldwin's stunning novel, If Beale Street Could Talk. In early 1970's Harlem, Tish, a nineteen-year old girl, is in love with a young sculptor, Fonny, the father of her unborn child. When Fonny is falsely accused of rape and imprisoned, Tish and their families race to clear his name before the baby is born. A story about love persisting in the face of racial oppression and injustice, Jenkins brings together a talented young cast which includes Stephan James (Selma, Race) as Fonny and newcomer Kiki Layne as Tish.

Happy Death Day 2U 

What's the story? Jessica Rothe leads the returning cast of Happy Death Day 2U, the follow-up to Blumhouse's (Split, Get Out, The Purge series) surprise 2017 smash hit of riveting, repeating twists and comic turns. This time, our hero Tree (Rothe) discovers that dying over and over was surprisingly easier than the dangers that lie ahead. Jason Blum once again produces and Christopher Landon returns to write and direct this next chapter, while Happy Death Day executive producers Angela Mancuso and John Baldecchi are newly joined by EP Samson Mucke (Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse).

Gully Boy (Hindi)

What's the story? 'Gully Boy' is about a 22-year-old Muslim boy named Murad from a ghetto in Bombay. The son of a driver, his parents have worked hard to get him educated just so that he can have an office job, meanwhile, Murad realises his calling is to rap. Art is a distant dream for the colonised poor of India and this story is about Murad chasing his dream and inadvertently transcending his class. The film showcases street rap from the crevices of Mumbai's by-lanes. The poetry is conscious of the city's socio-economic fabric and highlights the challenges faced by the disenfranchised youth in the minority Muslim population.

Dev (Tamil)

What's the story? Dev is an upcoming Indian Tamil language action adventure romantic thriller film based on road adventure written and directed by Rajath Ravishankar on his directorial debut. The film stars Karthi and Rakul Preet Singh in the main lead prominent roles while Karthik, Prakash Raj, Vamsi Krishna and Ramya Krishnan play supportive and pivotal roles in the film. Harris Jayaraj has been roped in to score music for the film while cinematography is handled by R. Velrajand editing is done by Anthony L. Ruben. The film marks the first collaboration between Karthi and music director Harris Jayaraj. The movie has a budget of over 50 crores while it has been simultaneously shot and dubbed in Telugu language. The film was earlier scheduled to have its theatrical release on 21 December on the eve of Christmas but was postponed to have its theatrical release on 14 February 2019 on the eve of Valentine's Day post Thai Pongal due to tight race at the box office.

ROH Royal Ballet Live: Don Quixote (Tuesday 19th February, 7.15pm)

What's the story? Cervantes's story of the bumbling knight Don Quixote has inspired countless artistic interpretations. Marius Petipa choreographed this sparkling ballet about the encounters of the man from La Mancha and his faithful squire Sancho Panza. At its heart are virtuoso roles for the lovers Basilio and Kitri. Carlos Acosta chose this joyful classic for his first production for The Royal Ballet. His vibrant staging brings together the whole Company in such roles as exuberant villagers, passionate gypsies and even fantasy flowers. The story follows Don Quixote's picaresque journey to do deeds in honour of his imaginary noble lady, Dulcinea. Sunny, charming, funny and touching – Don Quixote is a ballet as full of uplifting emotion as it is of astonishing ballet technique.
