Did you attend last night's Secret Unlimited Screening? If so, you were among the lucky fans who got to see powerful drama The Hate U Give, adapted from the bestselling novel from Angie Thomas.

The Hunger Games and The Darkest Minds actor Amandla Stenberg leads the cast as Starr, a young black woman from an impoverished community who attends a prestigious white prep school. When her best friend is shot and killed by a white police officer, it falls to Starr to take a stand and confront the racial divisions that threaten to engulf all those around her.

So what did Unlimited members make of the movie? In the first of many ecstatic responses, here's Olivia-Rachel who lauds the acting and storyline.

Gemma Summer agrees, and says the surprise choice of Unlimited screening added to the delight.

Jack Ghoulson compliments the acting from Stenberg and the rest of the cast.

Johny Haitch is another person who says the movie is carried by its performers.

Emma Sewell says potential viewers need to steel their emotions...

As a fan of the book, Stephanie Wright says the movie did its source material justice.

Claire Allan hails the film as a powerful slice of social commentary.

And Daniel Green sums up the experience of watching the movie as illuminating, funny and moving – what more could you want?
