Did you spot these Spider-Man references in the Spider-Verse trailer?

screen-poster

The latest trailer for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse may have landed yesterday – but did you spot the following hidden references?

1. The upside down kiss

Remember the classic Tobey Maguire/Kirsten Dunst smooch from 2002's Spider-Man? It was director Sam Raimi's first entry in the eventual trilogy, one that went on to gross more than $800m worldwide. And it gets another airing in the Spider-Verse trailer.

2. Stopping the train

The breathless locomotive face-off between Maguire's Spidey and Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus was the most exciting sequence in 2004's Spider-Man 2. And, sure enough, here's the Spider-Verse trailer throwback.

3. Spidey-sense

Another visual riff on Spider-Man 2, namely the scene where Peter Parker anticipates an attack from Doc Ock from behind. Only in the Spider-Verse trailer, he's fully suited, which makes the wide-eyed expression even funnier.
