Screen icon Clint Eastwood returns with new drama Richard Jewell, based on a shocking miscarriage of justice. Impressive newcomer Paul Walter Hauser plays the eponymous Richard, a security guard wrongly implicated in the 1996 Atlanta bombing, and subsequently hounded by both the press and the FBI.
Hauser joins the more seasoned likes of Sam Rockwell, Oscar nominee Kathy Bates, Jon Hamm and Olivia Wilde for another stoic Eastwood movie that examines dignity in the face of duress. This engrossing theme has recently been explored in the likes of American Sniper and Sully: Miracle on the Hudson.
Cineworld Unlimited members got to see the movie in advance last night, and we're here to round up a few of their responses. We'll start with this from Emma@TheMovies.
Sam Rockwell brings another great performance to our screens, Kathy Bates brought tears to my eyes and Paul Walter Hauser really hits home with the emotion at the end. #RichardJewell was an excellent film that hardly ever faltered.

James Acraman lauds the movie as another Eastwood triumph.
What a Very Interesting Movie That Was, Very Well Acted, I Really Felt #RichardJewell's Pain, This Film is a Must Watch in 2020, I Am So Glad I Went To Watch This Movie With #CineworldUnlimited, Overall The Verdict I Give is an 8/10, Very Well Done Everyone!

Catriona says the movie is important for bringing a shocking true story to the attention of UK and Ireland audiences.
Oh my goodness Richard Jewell is fantastic. I'd never heard of the story before but what an absolute travesty. @MsKathyBates deserves the praise but Sam Rockwell and Paul Walter Hauser were phenomenal! I've not been so emotionally invested in a film in a long time @cineworld

On the other hand, Kyle Snape says the writing, in particular the depiction of Olivia Wilde's journalist character, demanded more subtlety.
It was very well directed and really sells thanks to the great performances on display.

I just wish the pacing were a little tighter and Olivia Wilde’s character was way too stereotypically evil to take seriously. But its still a good time if you’re a fan of True Story material
Shezza Bezza says the movie will likely evoke strong emotions in viewers.
#RichardJewell @CineWembley @cineworld #UnlimitedScreening I really felt for Richard. Made me angry the way he was treated. Outstanding performances by all actors. He deserves so much more.

And Kieran believes the film is flawed, but worth watching for Rockwell's stirring performance as Jewell's lawyer.
Underwhelming, unfortunately. It's definitely an 'important' story, but that doesn't always make for an engaging movie. Sam Rockwell knocked it out of the park, as always, but otherwise there's little reason to check it out
