Celebrate May the 4th with the funniest (and weirdest) Star Wars videos of all time

screen-poster

Today is May the 4th, and that makes it a global celebration of that immortal Star Wars phrase: "May the Force be with you."

As we build towards this December's release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, we thought we'd trawl deep space and bring you our selection of the funniest, flat-out strangest videos from across the galaxy. Hold on tight, some of these really do beggar belief...

1. The Star Wars holiday special

Prepare to pick your jaw up from off the floor, because this really is Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Peter Mayhew harmonising together in a shoddy series spin-off so bad that George Lucas himself said he would personally track down and destroy every single copy, had he the time. Words cannot do it justice – it's so bad that the special was never even released on video.

2. Darth Vader and C-3PO

If you thought Darth Vader had his hands full revealing his identity to Luke Skywalker, spare a thought for the iconic baddie when he has to deal with 'other' son: prissy, fussy cyborg C-3PO. The seemingly innocuous line, "He is as clumsy as he is stupid" was never funnier than here.

3. Bad Lip Reading

The YouTube sensation turns its attention to franchise starter A New Hope in this riotously hilarious re-dubbing, featuring contributions from the likes of Jack Black. Ever wanted to hear Darth Vader's problems when it comes to texting Princess Leia? You've got it right here.

4. Cantina Band takeover

Who knew that this classic John Williams piece would make an ideal fit with the likes of Pulp Fiction, Singin' in the Rain and others? But it works an absolute treat – just a word of warning though, you may not be able to look at your favourite films or songs in the same way again...

5. Undercover Boss: Starkiller Base

This swiftly went viral in the wake of The Force Awakens but it's way too good to leave out. Go behind the scenes as evil baddie Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) goes undercover to find out more about the working conditions imposed by The First Order. Best bit: Ren admitting to his new best friend that he in fact wiped out his entire family.

6. Snatch Wars

The Millennium Falcon of Star Wars parody videos, this rib-tickling fusion of Darth Vader footage with the voice of Cockney villain Brick Top (Alan Ford) from Guy Ritchie gangster movie Snatch is utterly brilliant from start to finish. The scene where Vader dials back in to insult Grand Moff Tarkin (Peter Cushing) is quite possibly our favourite moment, although really it's impossible to pick just one.
