Hands up who saw The Nice Guys when it came out in 2016? Yes? Well then you’re one of the few.
Despite winning rave reviews, Shane Black’s comedy about a couple of mismatched private eyes didn’t exactly set the box office alight. Which is crazy, really, seeing as it starred Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe and was probably the funniest film released last year.
Black was hoping that the movie would kickstart a Nice Guys franchise, but the poor box office returns put killed those plans. But now it looks like The Nice Guys WILL be coming back, in a roundabout sorta way.
It’s being reported that the film is going to be adapted for TV with two FEMALE leads instead of male, as well as having its setting updated from 1977 to 2017.
There’s no word on whether Shane Black (who wrote and directed the movie) will be involved, but apparently 30 Minutes Or Less writer Michael Diliberti is penning the script.
We’re presuming it’ll also have a name change as well. The Nice Gals, anyone?
