Cineworld customers vote for their favourite ’80s heartthrobs

The ’80s is remembered for many things... Oversized mobile phones, the power anthem, big hair... And it's also fondly remembered for nurturing a generation of teen heartthrobs, many of whom have gone onto massively successful careers.

But which of the ’80s stars is just as sexy today? In a survey of more than 20,000 film fans, Cineworld asked and you replied in your droves. Top of the list was The Lone Ranger star Johnny Depp, who since his appearance in the original Nightmare on Elm Street, has gone onto become one of the coolest and trendiest maverick character actors in the biz.

Following hot on his heels was Oblivion megastar Tom Cruise. The years haven't dimmed the Cruiser's hold over the box office - he really is a star in every sense of the word.

And in third was a surprising but no less interesting choice - Richard Gere, who of course has recently been seen in Cineworld in the re-run of An Officer and a Gentleman. Since the ’80s, Gere has aged gracefully from testosterone-fuelled stud into suave, grey-haired fox.
