Easter is upon us from 19th-22nd April. So if you're looking for family movie inspiration, we're here to help – here are the movies on release during the Easter holidays that you cannot miss.
1. Dumbo
Disney's roster of live-action remakes continues apace with the new Dumbo movie. Alice in Wonderland director Tim Burton brings his characteristic visual splendour to the uplifting story of the big-eared, flying baby elephant, and there's an all-star cast as well. Colin Farrell joins Burton regulars (and Batman Returns co-stars) Danny DeVito and Michael Keaton, plus Dark Shadows' Eva Green.

2. Shazam!
Forget the doom and gloom of earlier DC movies. Infectious superhero adventure Shazam! casts off those shackles with a dose of big-hearted, wide-eyed humour and spirit. Zachary Levi is a winning presence as the eponymous comic book character – actually 14-year-old orphan Billy Batson (Asher Angel) encased within an invulnerable body. Critics are raving about the movie's soaring sense of fun and now's your chance to experience it.

3. Missing Link
Looking for an alternative to flying elephants and superheroes? Stop-motion animation masters Laika (Kubo and the Two Strings) have you sorted with their latest delightful offering. The Greatest Showman's Hugh Jackman voices intrepid explorer Sir Lionel Frost who forms an unexpected friendship with the elusive Bigfoot – or, to give him his proper name, Mr Link (LEGO Batman's Zach Galifianakis). Expect stunning visuals, sly humour and a star-studded voice cast that also includes Zoe Saldana and Emma Thompson.

4. Captain Marvel
Ahead of this month's Avengers: Endgame (released 25th April), there's still time to catch Marvel's latest blockbuster. Brie Larson brings the heroics as the eponymous Captain Marvel, the all-powerful superhero set to take the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in exciting new directions. But first, she must uncover the truth of her origins in this blend of entertaining popcorn spectacle and wry 1990s nostalgia. Watch out for a de-aged Samuel L. Jackson as the younger Nick Fury.

5. Wonder Park
More animated fun is on offer with this sweet-natured tale from the writers of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. When a young girl discovers her imaginary, animal-filled theme park has in fact come to life, it sets off an adventure beyond her comprehension. Jennifer Garner, Mila Kunis and Matthew Broderick are among the starry voice cast.
