Flamboyant director Baz Luhrmann is famous for serving up an eclectic musical smorgasbord in his movies.
From Christina Aguilera in Moulin Rouge! to Jay Z in The Great Gatsby, Luhrmann isn't a filmmaker who allows anachronisms to hold him back.
Given the outsized nature of Presley's career, Luhrmann is keen to knock us back in our seats. The movie's greatest special effect is star Austin Butler who has received rave reviews from the Cannes Film Festival for his transformative performance.
Once again, Luhrmann is playing around with the conventions of existing music. He's now sought cult Italian rock group Maneskin to perform their own cover of Presley's 'If I Can Dream.'
Success or sacrilege? You decide upon listening to the following. The movie is released in Cineworld cinemas on 24th June and you can book your Elvis tickets here.
