Hugh Jackman stars in the Cineworld Unlimited screening of The Son this February

Logan star Hugh Jackman is on powerful form in this month's Unlimited screening of The Son. This is writer-director Florian Zeller's follow-up to his critically lauded drama The Father, which won Anthony Hopkins his second Oscar, and indeed Hopkins makes a cameo appearance here alongside Jackman.

Jackman plays successful New York businessman Peter Miller who turned his back on his son in the wake of a painful divorce. However, when his ex-wife Kate (Laura Dern) turns up on his doorstep with their now-teenage child Nicholas (Zen McGrath), Peter realises that the past isn't so easily ignored.

An intense and emotional drama then unfolds as Peter must reconcile his own parental failings with the new life he's forged for himself, including partner Beth (Vanessa Kirby) and their new baby. Hopkins plays Peter's own father who dishes out some dyspeptic and cutting advice of his own.

As with The Father, The Son is based on Zeller's stage production and he elicits strong performances from a multi-generational ensemble. Watch the trailer and get a sense of the movie's impressive pedigree including playwright-turned-screenwriter Christopher Hampton who also adapted The Father for the screen.
