The Aeronauts is on release now in Cineworld cinemas, and the sweeping balloon adventure sent spirits soaring during our recent Cineworld Unlimited screening.
Lucky Unlimited members got a choice of IMAX or standard widescreen previews. Eddie Redmayne stars as James Glaisher, a meteorologist who takes to the skies with balloonist Amelia Wren (Felicity Jones) to record the weather. Along the way, they encounter stunning vistas, penetrating cold and terrifying storms – all in pursuit of scientific knowledge.

Excellent film! Reminded me of Gravity but set a couple of hundred years behind!! Some real edge of your set scenes. A simple movie yet kept us engaged for the duration. Well played

The Fourth Dimension lauds the performances from Redmayne and Jones.
Really good, strong direction, impressive cinematography and two terrific performance. Plus the song over the end credits by Sigrid was beautiful.

Anthony Parkes says he enjoyed the immersive qualities of the drama.
Really good. Right into the action that continued ball the way though. Background story in the main action kept me on the edge of My seat. Well back in my seat so I didn't fall to my death

Kyle Snape says that although the story is lacking, the dynamic IMAX presentation makes up for it.
I personally feel as though the film works better as an experience than a fully fletched story, but it didn't stop the film from being quite the anxiety inducing experience thanks to the great leads and glorious VFX work.

Katie Webber says the IMAX visuals and sound work brilliantly in reinforcing the danger of the characters' journey.
I watched on Friday in IMAX. TBH not the best film I've seen this year, however the cinematography was wonderful and, as someone scared of heights, some of the scenes had me watching through my fingers!

Msrc France says it's another winning collaboration between the two actors following The Theory of Everything.

Can’t get over the sense of vertigo with some of the scenes.

However, Woody Woods says he had a problem with the suspension (no pun intended) of disbelief.
I liked it a lot. But the far fetched scenes spoiled the movie for me. Too many impossible scenes. On a more positive note it is visually stunning.

And Andy W says the movie struggles with its relation to fact (Glaisher was real but Wren is a make-believe character).
A good film and the chemistry that these two have on screen shows its perfectly cast. It suffers a little from true story syndrome as they try to pad out the content.
