Uncharted movie reveals first look at Tom Holland as Nathan Drake

After umpteen delays, production on the Uncharted movie is finally underway. And, lucky us, we've got our first look at star Tom Holland as daredevil adventurer Nathan Drake.

As you can see, Sony are distributing this big screen adaptation of the blockbusting Naughty Dog PlayStation property. With 41 million units sold, it's one of the biggest video game franchises of all time, having spawned a quartet of initial games, a prequel, a card game variation and a standalone game with a new protagonist, Chloe Frazer.

With Spider-Man himself lending star power in the central role of Drake, Transformers' Mark Wahlberg will be backing him up. He's playing Drake's mentor Victor Sullivan, whilst Venom's Ruben Fleischer is marshalling the action from behind the camera.

Uncharted has had a famously troubled journey en route to cinema screens, with multiple actors and directors bailing on the project. Fortunately, it's now very much a reality, and judging from the image Holland appears to have the right physicality and bearing for the rogueish Drake. The movie is a prequel that occupies the character's younger years and Holland has got seriously buff for the role. Fans had been clamouring for Firefly's Nathan Fillion to star, but this didn't come to pass.

Holland is a busy bee. Following Uncharted, he's will launch into shooting for Spider-Man 3, his next Marvel Cinematic Universe outing. While that's scheduled for a November 2021 release (at the time of writing), Uncharted will be unearthed on 16th July 2021.
