Oscar nominated animation Arco with star-studded voice cast is “a beautiful, poignant film about the importance of loving proudly”

How would you feel if your big sister and parents went off on nightly adventures, time-travelling, while your 10-year-old self was left at home? Why should they have all the fun?

This is how it is for Arco, who lives sometime in the future, until one night when he nabs his big sister’s magical cape and travels back to 2075 – a world of extreme weather and nanny-robots who look after kids while their parents work in the city. Arco crash-lands and meets children, Iris and Peter, who try to help him find his way home.

Arco has a famous voice cast, including Will Ferrell, who brings comedy and energy. Mark Ruffalo and Natalie Portman are Iris’s parents and provide the warm, kindly tones of the nanny-robot they voice together.

As well as great voices, the French animated film has magical rainbow capes, cloud cities, flying capes, lush rainbow trails, exciting adventures, fun sci-fi toys, and themes of friendship.

A playful, quirky film, Arco was nominated for Academy and Golden Globe awards, and it's one of our Cineworld Unlimited screenings, where you pay the cost of two cinema tickets a month to watch as many films as you like. Being an Unlimited member also gets you money off cinema snacks, restaurants and more.

The rainbow colours and kaleidoscopic visuals in this film are mesmerising. And it has a strong emotional pull, too.

Absolutely – big up the robots! While the story is set in the future with time-travelling and robot nannies, the central message shines through – it’s really a film about the power of love.

A future classic! That’s a fitting accolade for a film that’s really hooking in its audience in.

Hahaha! That’s a sharp observation. Some traditions never fade, eh? Even with AI caretakers and a futuristic backdrop. Keeps the story relatable.
