Not content with reprising his signature role as Indiana Jones, it seems Harrison Ford is keen to get another huge franchise under his belt.
It's been announced that Ford, now aged 80, will be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as General Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross. Ford takes over from the role's original incumbent, Oscar winner William Hurt, who passed away in March of this year.
Ford will make his MCU debut in 2024's Captain America: New World Order. It's the fourth Captain America movie and will bring Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson/The Falcon to the forefront.
New World Order is the penultimate movie in Marvel Phase Five and Ford is the kind of huge name that could lend some much-needed gravitas. You can just hear him tetchily barking military orders, right?
Upon the retirement of Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), Sam Wilson/The Falcon is now set to adopt the mantle of the Star Spangled Man. Following the events of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, which paired Wilson with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), the former now becomes a new Captain America for a troubling new age.
Luce and The Cloverfield Paradox director Julius Onah is at the helm of the fourth Captain America movie. That's all the news we have for now so stay tuned for updates.
In the meantime, Ford will be cracking the whip again in next year's Indiana Jones 5. The world's greatest archaeologist-adventurer returns to the screen although it's not Steven Spielberg at the helm.
Instead, Logan's James Mangold will be steering Indy's latest adventure, working with a star cast that includes Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Mads Mikkelsen.
