Jungle Cruise: watch the new Disney trailer

Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt set off into the unknown in Disney adventure Jungle Cruise. We love the idea of The Rock and Mary Poppins in a Disneyfied twist on The African Queen, and, frankly, we can't wait to finally see it in July this year.

Here's the official rundown: "Inspired by the famous Disneyland theme park ride, Disney’s Jungle Cruise is an adventure-filled, rollicking thrill-ride down the Amazon with wisecracking skipper Frank Wolff and intrepid researcher Dr. Lily Houghton. Lily travels from London, England to the Amazon jungle and enlists Frank’s questionable services to guide her downriver on La Quila—his ramshackle-but-charming boat.

"Lily is determined to uncover an ancient tree with unparalleled healing abilities—possessing the power to change the future of medicine. Thrust on this epic quest together, the unlikely duo encounters innumerable dangers and supernatural forces, all lurking in the deceptive beauty of the lush rainforest. But as the secrets of the lost tree unfold, the stakes reach even higher for Lily and Frank and their fate—and mankind’s—hangs in the balance."

The news was announced by Johnson on his Instagram page where he described Blunt as "the female Indiana Jones". Is there nothing she can't do?

Non-Stop director Jaume Collet-Serra takes the helm, and must have enjoyed working with Johnson a lot, given he's now helming the Johnson-starring Black Adam. Jungle Cruise's strong supporting cast includes Edgar Ramírez (The Bourne Ultimatum) and Jack Whitehall (Bad Education), with Jesse Plemons (Judas and the Black Messiah) and Paul Giamatti (Sideways).

Jungle Cruise is set for release in Cineworld on 31st July 2021.
