Mad March comedies: Hail Caesar!, Fifty Shades of Black and My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2

Feel mad as a March hare with a whole host of riotous new comedy releases. Here's what's coming your way over the next month.

Hail, Caesar!

What's the story? George Clooney plays a kidnapped movie star in this offbeat period comedy from the Coen brothers.

Eddie Mannix (Josh Brolin) is a hard-nosed film studio fixer, who's kept busy hushing up scandals during Hollywood's golden age. Now he faces his biggest challenge to date.

Baird Whitlock (George Clooney), wooden star of Capitol Pictures' prestige historical drama Hail Caesar, has been abducted while filming. The kidnappers are a mysterious organisation styling themselves 'The Future', who demand a ransom of $100,000.

Oscar-winning No Country for Old Men writer/directors Joel and Ethan Coen return to the Hollywood territory of their cult hit Barton Fink for this hilarious, lovingly crafted comedy.

The outstanding cast includes Scarlett Johansson as an Esther Williams-style musical swimming star, Ralph Fiennes as a film director, Tilda Swinton as a gossip columnist and Channing Tatum as a young actor. There's even a role for Expendables star Dolph Lundgren as a Soviet submarine commander!

Hail, Caesar! is released on 4th March.

Fifty Shades of Black

What's the story? An outrageous send-up of Fifty Shades of Grey from the team behind A Haunted House.

A young student goes to interview a wealthy, handsome businessman for her college newspaper and becomes drawn in to a decidedly kinky relationship.

Yes, that's the plot of last year's most controversial movie, Fifty Shades of Grey. This wickedly funny spoof takes the same story and sends up all of its most famous scenes.

Marlon Wayans, who also starred in and co-wrote director Michael Tiddes' Paranormal Activity send-up A Haunted House, plays controlling tycoon Christian Black. Kali Hawk is the innocent Hannah Steele.

Watch out too for veterans Fred Willard and Jane Seymour joining in the hilarity as Christian's adoptive parents. And the film doesn't just have Fifty Shades in its zany scattershot comedy sights. The likes of Magic Mike, Zero Dark Thirty and Whiplash are also on the receiving end.

Fifty Shades of Black is released on 11th March.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2

What's the story? Nia Vardalos and John Corbett return in this sequel to the smash hit rom-com.

In 2002, My Big Fat Greek Wedding told the story of Fotoula "Toula" Portokalos (Nia Vardalos), a Greek-American woman who falls in love with a non-Greek upper middle class guy named Ian Miller (John Corbett). It went on to become the highest-grossing romantic comedy of all time, and fans have been clamouring for a sequel ever since.

14 years later, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 now picks up the story of Toula and Ian who, while dealing with their troubled teenage daughter, have another Greek wedding to cope with!

Once again written by star Nia Vardalos, this rib-tickling sequel finds the cast reunited for another very big and very fat wedding. Among the newcomers are Mark Margolis, Rita Wilson, John Stamos, Elena Kampouris, Alex Wolff and Elena Kampouris as Paris Miller, Toula and Ian's rebellious daughter.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 is released on 25th March.
