Sonic 2 reveals official movie title and logo

Cast your mind back to February 2020. Sonic the Hedgehog raced onto screens in the days prior to coronavirus and established itself as a box office hit. The Sega video game movie cast Ben Schwartz as the voice of the wisecracking title character with Jim Carrey as his nemesis, Doctor Robotnik.

Well, in a bit of good news, we're getting a sequel. Sonic the Hedgehog 2, as it's officially known, will be making its way towards us in the (hopefully) not-too-distant future. The official title treatment has been revealed, teasing the presence of another significant character from the Sega franchise...

Yes, it seems that Sonic's BFF Miles Tails Prower will be featuring in the sequel. Let's not forget he was teased during the climax, arriving on Earth via a portal. Other than that, no more details are forthcoming from Paramount.

It's reported that the film will arrive in 2022 – we can only imagine that it will build on the first film's post-credits stinger, which revealed Carrey in the traditional Doctor Robotnik garb. IMDB credits Jeff Fowler as the director, the filmmaker who steered the original movie to the equivalent of many gold rings at the box office.
