Scroll down to discover all the essential details, including news of the forthcoming Cineworld Unlimited screening.

What is the story of Umma?

Korean immigrant Amanda has raised her daughter in strict isolation, off the grid, and absent the trappings of modern life. The two women make a living by raising bees and collecting honey and all appears to be well. That is until Amanda is informed that her long-estranged mother has died, her ashes bequeathed in a mysterious box.

Once the box is opened, it unleashes malevolent paranormal evil that is directly tied to Amanda's tortured history with her late parent. What is the story of Amanda's 'umma' and what does she want?

What does 'umma' mean?

'Umma' translates as 'mother' in Korean.

Who stars in Umma?

Killing Eve star Sandra Oh portrays the afflicted Amanda and Atypical actor Fivel plays her unsuspecting daughter, Chris.

Who produces Umma.

Umma is produced by Sam Raimi, a legendary figure within the horror genre. In the 1980s, Raimi courted controversy with his notoriously splatterific black comedy Evil Dead. Such was the cult success and notoriety of the movie that it spawned two sequels, released in 1987 and 1992.

Raimi's predilection for horror has also fed into the atmospheric Deep South chiller The Gift (2000) and the rip-roaring cautionary tale Drag Me To Hell (2009). Raimi also produced the 2004 remake of the Japanese chiller The Grudge, and in the case of Umma, he releases the movie via his Raimi Productions label.
