As the new year beckons, we're looking back at the highlights from 2022. It was a truly amazing year for Cineworld Unlimited members with a host of diverse preview screenings, ranging from multiversal madness to hilarious romcoms.

1. Belfast Secret Unlimited Screening
Kenneth Branagh's Oscar-winning ode to his Northern Irish upbringing proved to be a stirring hit with Cineworlders.
Avantika confessed to being stunned by newcomer Jude Hill's performance.

2. Parallel Mothers
Celebrated Spanish director Pedro Almodovar intertwines the personal and the political across two timelines in this visually rapturous melodrama.
Longtime Almodovar fan Paul Shotton confessed to being dazzled by the film.
Brilliant film. I’ve been a huge fan of Almodóvar since I saw Live Flesh and All About My Mother in the late 90s and this film continues that fine tradition, with Cruz being especially on top form. Highly recommended. đŸ˜ƒ

3. The Phantom of the Open
Mark Rylance is on rousing form as 'the world's worst golfer' Maurice Flitcroft in this endearing adaptation of an unlikely true story.
Jess Kebbell encourages those who haven't heard of Flitcroft to seek out the movie ASAP.
Loved it! It was funny, heartfelt and very charming. Hadn’t heard of Maurice Flitcroft before this, but his life is definitely something I think everyone should know about! Would highly recommend people go and see the film.

4. Everything Everywhere All At Once
This dazzling multiversal treat was both a showcase for the tremendous Michelle Yeoh and an astonishing demonstration of the imagination that can be achieved on a low budget.
Jack Rafferty lauded it as one of the most original movies he'd ever seen.

5. Where the Crawdads Sing
Daisy Edgar-Jones cemented her position as a rising star in this atmospheric adaptation of Delia Owens' bestselling novel.
Katie Samuel was a huge fan of Edgar-Jones' performance as the mysterious marsh girl Kya.
Really enjoyed it. Haven’t read the book so couldn’t comment on how accurate it was - but as a stand-alone film I thought it was very good. @DaisyEdgarJones was exceptional, rest of the cast were also amazing. Great #UnlimitedScreening.

6. Bodies Bodies Bodies
Indie movie maestros A24 had another hit on their hands with this sly and scary takedown of the TikTok generation, filtering it through the prism of an Agatha Christie-style murder mystery.
George Clark declared the movie another winner from the increasingly impressive A24 stable.

7. The Woman King
Oscar winner Viola Davis is on typically commanding form as Dahomey tribal leader General Nanisca in this full-blooded and fascinating take on a tumultuous period in African history.
Emma raved about the movie, saying it was an all-round triumph from the period design to the performances.
Everything about #TheWomanKing worked for me. The cast excelled in every scene, with Davis, Atim and Lynch giving powerful performances. Camera work to singing, there wasn’t anything that didn’t help build the story and atmosphere, a must see when it’s on general release.

8. Smile
One of this year's biggest sleeper hits, Smile spins a genuinely terrifying series of events from the deceptively simple image of a curse that causes people to grin inordinately.
Daniel believed that, for once, this was a movie that lived up to its compelling trailer.
Very enjoyable, just like the trailer it had me interested, the film instantly had me hooked and exceeded my expectations completely. A must watch for anyone into this genre of film it will definitely not disappoint.

9. Bros
Billy Eichner writes and stars in this sweet and perceptive story of a gay single New Yorker who stumbles across Mr. Right when he's least expecting to.
Bench Smith praised the movie as a refreshingly honest and relatable addition to the rom-com genre.
A hilariously funny yet brutally honest film and told in such a real and relatable way. I laughed, cried, gasped and laughed lots more. #loveisloveislove #loveisuniversal #lovenotlove #lgbtq+ #BrosMovie @UniversalPics
