Book your tickets for the Unlimited screening of Broker this February

Acclaimed Japanese filmmaker Hirokazu Koreeda returns with his bittersweet new South Korean drama Broker, and it's screening in advance for Unlimited members this February. This is your chance to see the compelling and complex new movie from one of the world's leading humanist directors who has scored previous critical hits with the likes of Shoplifters (2018).

A fabulous cast is spearheaded by Parasite actor Song Kang-ho as Ha Sang-hyeon. He's an ostensibly ordinary laundry worker who runs an illegal business on the side, stealing babies from the local church's baby box and selling them to prospective families on the black market.

However, the scheme that Ha Sang-hyeon runs with his friend Dong-soo (Gang Dong-won) is exposed when young mother Moon So-young (Korean pop star and actor IU aka Lee Ji-eun) comes seeking the baby that she's abandoned. She then discovers the existence of the 'brokers' and observes them from a distance as they seek out a new family for her child.

What unfurls is a gentle moral fable that examines the formative role of parental figures, both present and absent, and the notion of blood versus adoptive ties. It also exposes an undercurrent of South Korean culture that many will find both shocking and fascinating. Watch the Broker trailer below.
