Lionsgate Live: stream the Oscar-winning La La Land for free

Oscar-winning musical La La Land is available to stream courtesy of Lionsgate Live! A Night at the Movies. Scroll down for all the details, including all the info on where you can watch it.

What is the story of La La Land?

Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone deliver joyous performances in this vibrant throwback to the golden age of the movie musical. Singin' in the Rain and The Umbrellas of Cherbourg are just two of the reference points in Damien Chazelle's infectious drama, which charts the romance between an aspiring jazz musician and an aspiring actor.

Chazelle expressed his desire that La La Land not only be an escapist musical fantasy, but a relatively gritty story about two people navigating life's ups and downs. This is potently registered in Gosling and Stone's chemistry, as their fluctuating emotional priorities feed into the soundtrack by Justin Hurwitz, and lyricists Pasek and Paul.

Brimming with dazzling choreography, including the acclaimed 'Another Day of Sun' opening freeway sequence, La La Land is a spirited movie. At the same time, it's never naive enough to suggest that life is a straightforward symphony of euphoria – those minor keys are just as important and constructive as the major ones.

The movie's technical virtuosity and emotional honesty saw it claim multiple Oscars, including Best Director for Chazelle, Best Actress for Stone, Best Original Score for Hurwitz and Best Original Song (for 'City of Stars'.)
