The new Avengers: Infinity War poster makes all your superhero nerd dreams come true

How many Avengers is it possible to fit on one poster? It sounds like the start of a joke but it's a serious question, as the new Infinity War one sheet made its debut at last weekend's Comic Con. And oh boy, is it epic. Like seriously, pass-out-with-excitement epic. Here it is.

The rendering is in fact a composite of three images that were unveiled individually at Comic Con and designed by Marvel Studios Head of Visual Development, Ryan Meinerding.

Structurally we can see Josh Brolin's villain Thanos dividing our heroes to the left and right, an indicator of his intergalactic threat level. On the left our attention can't help but be grabbed by the bearded Captain America (Chris Evans), who looks like he's been living a hard life following the climax of Civil War. Meanwhile Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) has upgraded to a sleek platinum bob.

Even so it's the presence of relatively newer faces alongside the old veterans that have really got us giddy with glee. Not only do we have the Guardians: Star Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Groot (Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel). There's also Tom Holland's Spider-Man, Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther and Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange, all of whom promise to shake things up a bit.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the dab hands behind both Winter Soldier and Civil War, Infinity War explodes onto screens on 27th April 2018 with the as-yet-unnamed sequel following in 2019.

What do you think? Can't wait until the quip-happy likes of Star Lord rub shoulders with Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.)? Let us know @Cineworld.
