Black Widow: experience Marvel's new movie in the expanded IMAX aspect ratio

We'll soon be treated to the big-screen debut of Marvel character Black Widow. Scarlett Johansson's ex-KGB agent turned Avenger Natasha Romanoff leads a sure-to-be-thrilling story of Russian paranoia and intrigue, as she returns to her former Soviet stomping ground to address her murky past.

Black Widow acts as the curtain-raiser on Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And we've got some exciting updates about the movie's IMAX presentation in Cineworld. Here's what you need to know.

Is Black Widow in IMAX screening with additional footage?

Marvel Studios’ Black Widow will debut with 22 minutes of select scenes in an expanded aspect ratio exclusively in IMAX.

What does IMAX add to the Marvel experience?

With several scenes specially formatted exclusively for IMAX cinemas, film fans can experience Black Widow on the massive IMAX screen at 1.90:1 aspect ratio – showing up to 26% more of the onscreen image.

In IMAX your peripheral vision will be filled with all manner of danger and intrigue as Natasha reunites with Yelena (Florence Pugh), Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian (David Harbour) and Melina (Rachel Weisz), her former 'Black Widow' associates. Together, they must battle the Taskmaster, a mysterious villain who can absorb the abilities of those whom he's fighting. Natasha must also reckon with the spectre of the 'Red Room', which appears to be producing its own squadron of brainwashed agents.

Where can we see the comparison between widescreen and IMAX?

Here's a side-by-side comparison of the standard theatrical aspect ratio versus what you can expect from the IMAX presentation. If you've been feeling deprived of the big screen Marvel experience, this is the solution.
