Jurassic World III: behind the scenes photo confirms movie title

Director Colin Trevorrow has confirmed the start of principal photography on Jurassic World III with a behind the scenes photo. And, as you can see on the clapper board, the title has been confirmed as Dominion.

Director Colin Trevorrow confirms Jurassic World III title as Dominion

This presumably refers to the state of play after the events of 2018's Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which was directed by J.A. Bayona and co-written by Trevorrow. That movie ended with hero velociraptor Blue and several other beasties escaping and running wild in America, a precursor to all manner of dino-related chaos that will eventually engulf the continent. This ties into Ian Malcolm's (Jeff Goldblum) famous maxim, "Life finds a way", and confirms his belief that a brand new neo-Jurassic age is about to begin.

So, if our heroes Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) thought they had their hands full before, that's nothing compared to what's coming. Both characters are back in Dominion, whose script has been written by Trevorrow, Emily Carmichael and Derek Connolly. Goldblum is also set to return, alongside fellow Jurassic Park veterans Sam Neill and Laura Dern, who recently won her first Oscar for Marriage Story.

Says Trevorrow: "I think any kind of global acceptance that [dinosaurs] are just around doesn't feel real to me because, even now when you think of animals, when was the last time you saw a tiger walking down the street? We know there are tigers. We know they're out there. But to me, it's very important that we keep this grounded in the context of our relationship with wild animals today."

The pressure is on this movie: both Jurassic World and Fallen Kingdom were monster hits, grossing more than $1 billion worldwide. Executive produced by Jurassic Park filmmaker Steven Spielberg, Dominion will lens in Canada, Hawaii, Malta and Pinewood Studios in the UK, with the production promising a mixture of animatronic dinosaurs and CGI.

Jurassic World: Dominion is released on the 21st of June 2021. Excited? Let us know @Cineworld.
