It can't have escaped your attention that Avengers: Endgame tickets have finally gone on sale. But if you've not yet secured your seat, hold fire a moment and check out this action-packed new teaser for the movie.
It reveals some brand new clips that tease our Avengers' battle against the tyrannical Thanos (Josh Brolin). Fleeting highlights include a hug shared between Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and his great love Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) – whether this is their reunion after he's been stranded in space remains to be seen.
We also see Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) piloting a ship into the far reaches of the galaxy alongside Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans), Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Clint Barton/Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) and Rhodes/War Machine (Don Cheadle). Given the formidable powers she displayed at the end of her own movie, Captain Marvel is clearly in the driving seat in more ways than one.
Most impactful of all is the dignified handshake shared between Stark and Rogers – after years of discontent and mistrust between the two, the devastation wreaked by Thanos is seemingly the catalyst for healing and redemption.
And what of their dreaded nemesis? Fear not, because Thanos makes a show-stopping entrance, mocking the Avengers as they return to Titan to confront him. "Where has it led you"? he sneers at our cadre of heroes who are clearly not used to losing. "Back to me."
Gulp. We truly are in the endgame now.
