It's been a couple of years since an installment from the Conjuring Universe scared up a storm on the big screen. However, the blockbuster horror franchise returns this year with The Nun II, the sequel to the most financially successful Conjuring movie to date. (Need a recap of the series so far? Click here.) The action picks up with Taissa Farmiga's returning character Sister Irene. In the previous Nun movie, she was a novitiate who was compelled to battle the demonic entity Valak within the walls of a forbidding Romanian abbey. Several years later, Sister Irene is horrified to discover that Valak, whom she thought banished, has returned to terrorise an all-girls school.
Valak, for those who need reminding, first appeared in 2016's The Conjuring 2 in the form of a painting owned by ghost hunters Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga). It's the most feared and powerful entity in the horror franchise and promises to get spines a-tingling again from September 8th. Check out the trailer below – if you dare.
