Swing by Cineworld and watch Spider-Man: Brand New Day in 4DX, 3D, SCREENX, and Superscreen

You don’t need a webinar to work it out: Spider-Man: Brand New Day is swooping into cinemas soon, and our Spidey senses tell us you’re going to enjoy a premium viewing. The antics of the bodystockinged one are made for it.

But before we run through the myriad possibilities that the exciting worlds of premium screens bring, let’s look at the plot. Now. Be prepared, because this is going to be weird. Since Dr Strange’s spell, we see Spider-Man in a place we’ve never seen him before. He’s completely alone, and everyone else has forgotten him. Dr Strange has made sure of that.

We witness heartbreak as Peter watches the people he was closest to living their lives without him. The past has been completely wiped, and we’re the only ones privy to his brilliance. He can’t try to live a normal life, because it’s gone. There’s nothing left but to be 100% Spider-Man, facing the city’s threats alone.

Which means more Spider-Man, less Peter Parker. And you know what that means… more action, more near-misses and terrifying scrapes. Brace yourself for daredevil acrobatics among the dizzying heights of the skyscrapers of New York City. He’s definitely going to need a new pair of webs after this.

Tom Holland as Spidey can be seen in 4DX, 3D, SCREENX, and Superscreen. The question is: which screen is for you? Let’s find out. Time to swing…

Hold your nerve as you run walls with Spider-Man in 4DX

Watching him swing into action is a truly gasp-worthy moment. Your stomach’s going to be lurching all over the place. Can you deal? The jeopardy is high. He might splat into the side of a high-rise! Nerves WILL be frayed. He’s falling off the top of a high-rise, swooping down the side of a building, floor after floor, and you’re going to feel that in your seat as it tilts and rolls and the wind whooshes past your ears, like you’re in a fairground. If the streets of New York get foggy or smoky, you can bet the inside of the auditorium will get foggy and smoky too. With 4DX, you’re all in.

Not a fan of heights? Don’t look down from that skyscraper in 3D

That web’s going to be coming at you like it’s in the room, you’ll be tricked into thinking you can actually feel the force of a slingshot launch, as Spidey stretches the web till it’ll stretch no more and releases it. Brutal. When you don those glasses the Spideyverse comes alive with debris flying, and Spider-Man swings into the room. Awesome. Just make sure you have a head for heights because that bird’s eye view of the New York skyline is going to test you.

Be transported with the magic of SCREENX

Want a wraparound experience without the bells and whistles of 4DX? SCREENX could be for you. During moments of pure action, when you want full immersion, then that’s exactly what you get. One screen becomes three, with two extra side views projected onto either side of the main screen, so your peripheral vision is filled with film. Whether you’re running the streets of New York or falling through the forest of tall buildings, this is going to feel as though you’re almost seeing a different film, like you’re getting something extra.

Go sky (and ceiling) high with Superscreen

You like your screens big? Really, really big? Superscreen is super-large but not eye-poppingly IMAX-sized. So it’s floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall, but not too overwhelming. You’ll also notice a sharper picture and stunning detail, so everything from Spider-Man’s well-worn threads to intricate webs will show up superbly. It’s surround sound too, so our webbed hero will sound like he’s flying around you, not just in front of you. How cool is that? Be warned: the emotional beats get even louder, and seeing Peter Parker isolated and friendless is going to hit hard. Lump in throat incoming.

Hang tight, web heads…

It’s time to wrap this up. All that’s left to say is that tickets for the 31 July screening will be on sale soon. That leaves plenty of time to decide which of the premium formats you want to see your favourite superhero in. Will it be 4DX, 3D, SCREENX or Superscreen? With great power comes great responsibility, and deciding may well be a sticky situation for you…
