A Haunting in Venice: new trailer teases Poirot's spookiest case yet

One of Agatha Christie's least known whodunits, Hallowe'en Party, comes to the screen this September as A Haunting in Venice. All the better for retaining the surprise, right?

Kenneth Branagh again doubles up as director and star. His impressively hairy detective Hercule Poirot is now drawn into a deadly case that seemingly transcends our bricks-and-mortar reality. And it takes place amidst the irresistibly shadowy canals of Venice, which adds to the richly creepy atmosphere.

Upon arriving at a luxury Venetian party, Poirot's sojourn is interrupted by a seance, undertaken by a woman calling out for the spirit of her deceased daughter. The ceremony then appears to call down evil from beyond the grave – so does the solution lie beyond our world, or is someone in plain sight pulling the strings?

The typically excellent ensemble cast includes recently minted Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh, Jamie Dornan, Kelly Reilly and Tina Fey. Which of them did it? Rather, given the film doesn't reach us until September, which of them is about to do it?

Watch the trailer below and see if you can spot any clues. A Haunting in Venice is released on September 15th.
