The Marvels reunites us with Brie Larson's Captain Marvel and as you can see on the above poster, she's flanked by two new allies. They are Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), daughter of Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch, seen in the previous movie), and Ms Marvel (Iman Vellani).

This triangular trio instigates an action-packed, body-swapping variation on the MCU blockbuster in which Captain Marvel and Ms Marvel find themselves swapping bodies. The latter makes the leap from her successful Disney+ series, pointing toward new horizons of the MCU as various characters are imported into the franchise's cinematic slate.

Given the surge of character, spectacle, humour and MCU lore, drawn from both the big and small screens, one cannot resist The Marvels in IMAX. The movie spans both familiar corners of Earth and unfamiliar corners of space, and IMAX's greatly expanded aspect ratio enhances this sense of sweeping scale.

Larger-than-usual screens combine with a unique remastering process so every cosmic action sequence and celestial vista glistens with added detail. A perfectly tuned integrated sound and speaker system is the icing on the cake for how it sonically absorbs you in Captain Marvel's ongoing saga.

Find out more about the IMAX remastering process in the following behind-the-scenes video.

Marvel movies are renowned as rollercoaster rides that exhilaratingly hurl you from one spectacular set piece to the next. But forget about passively watching the movie in your standard widescreen presentation. Instead, import the physical impact of the movie directly into your Cineworld experience.

4DX is a multi-sensory format that is unique to Cineworld cinemas in the UK and Ireland. Motion-programmed seats are timed to Captain Marvel's every quicksilver move and moment of combat. Scents and effects, including rain and wind, give tangibility to the visual action, making you feel as if you're there.

To reiterate, this is an experience that is wholly unique to Cineworld. In other words, nowhere else can you feel the heft and weight of Captain Marvel as it plays out in front of you.

The specifics of 4DX and how it works to immerse a movie audience can be discovered in our behind-the-scenes video clip.
