Easter Holiday movies: 3 family-friendly releases coming to Cineworld

With the Easter Holidays coming up this April, no doubt you're curious about the family-friendly movies poised to arrive in Cineworld. We hear you – scroll down to discover the all-ages blockbusters due for release very soon.

1. The Bad Guys (previewing 26th and 27th of March; released 1st April)

It's good to be bad in this all-star animated caper from DreamWorks Animation, the family movie stalwarts behind the likes of Shrek.

Sam Rockwell leads the voice cast as the smooth-talking crim Mr. Wolf, one of several anthropomorphised animals who share their world with humans. When Mr. Wolf and his nefarious team cut a deal to avoid jail time, they suddenly find themselves faced with a real villain who makes their exploits pale in comparison.

Awkwafina, Craig Robinson, Zazie Beetz, Anthony Ramos, Marc Maron and Richard Ayoade round out the excellent ensemble in this action-packed family comedy.

2. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (released 1st April)

Back in 2020, Sonic the Hedgehog became one of the biggest-selling video game movies of all time. Now, Sega gaming icon Sonic returns to the big screen, once again voiced by Ben Schwartz, and there's an escalation in his conflict with the cackling Doctor Robotnik (a returning Jim Carrey).

This time, the evil Robotnik is after the Master Emerald with which he can take over the entire world. And he's roped in another classic Sega character to help: the feisty echidna Knuckles (voiced by Idris Elba).

The chance to see Sonic and Knuckles on the big screen, at last, is poised to be a nostalgic treat for retro gamers. James Marsden and Tika Sumpter, meanwhile, reprise their roles from the previous movie as Tom and Maddie. And Sonic is getting more help from a certain Tails (voiced by Colleen O'Shaugnessy).

3. Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (released 8th April)

The Fantastic Beasts saga enters a dramatic new chapter as the armies of the evil wizard Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen) start to mass themselves globally.

Another important puzzle piece in the Harry Potter prequel storyline is set to click into place as we come to terms with the animosity between Grindelwald and his former friend/lover Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law).

How many of Dumbledore's personal skeletons will come tumbling out of the cupboard in the third Fantastic Beasts movie? Finding out is sure to be a spectacular experience as Eddie Redmayne's Newt Scamander and allies rally themselves around the Hogwarts figurehead for a definitive battle between pure bloods and muggles.
