Kevin Feige provides Marvel updates on Spider-Man 4 and other key titles

Marvel Phase Five and Marvel Phase Six are now plotted out – we know that. However, what about the specific details of key movies within those phases? While Marvel chief Kevin Feige is remaining largely tight-lipped about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), he did recently let slip about Spider-Man 4 and several other important titles.

1. Spider-Man 4

“All I will say is that we have the story,” Feige said. “We have big ideas for that, and our writers are just putting pen to paper now.”

This would be Tom Holland's fourth (and presumably final) solo Spidey movie. Will he reunite with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield after the multiversal success of Spider-Man: No Way Home? We can only dream.

2. Deadpool 3

“That’s our first R-rated film,” Feige said of the Ryan Reynolds-starring threequel. “To have [Hugh Jackman] come back is incredible.”

That news will be a relief to those worried about Deadpool's edges being sanded down. This is the first Deadpool movie to fall under the auspices of the MCU and, as Feige mentions, it reinstates Hugh Jackman's Wolverine (somehow). Here he is getting back into fearsome shape.

3. Blade

“It’s going well,” Feige said of the Blade reboot, which will star two-time Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali. “Our director Yann [Demange] is down in Atlanta right now. Cameras roll in, like, the next 10 weeks or so.”

The aforementioned Yann Demange came onto the project after original helmer Bassim Tariq departed in 2022. There's been much concern about the quality of the Blade reboot's script, so fingers crossed that this will do justice to the Marvel icon once played by Wesley Snipes.

4. Captain America: New World Order

Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson/Falcon is the new Captain America incumbent. And while he's taking over from Chris Evans, Harrison Ford will be filling the role of Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross, previously played by the late William Hurt.

“He’s tireless with the amount of work that he does,” raved Feige about Ford. “This is certainly a big part for Thaddeus Ross. He’s the president of the United States in the film. And with Harrison, you think about ‘Air Force One,’ and you think about some of his confrontations with the president in ‘Clear and Present Danger.’

There’s a dynamic between President Ross and [Anthony Mackie’s] Sam Wilson. They have a history together, but in this film, we’ll be seeing the dynamic between Captain America and the president of the United States in a way that is just incredible.”

5. The Marvels

AKA Captain Marvel 2 in which Brie Larson's titular Kree superhero pairs with Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), the now-grown-up daughter of the former's friend Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch).

“There’s something immensely powerful about seeing Monica (Teyonah Parris) and Kamala (Iman Vellani) and Carol (Brie Larson) together in a frame," Feige explained. "To me, it’s only akin to the first ‘Avengers’ movie and seeing the six of them together in a frame. It’s chill-inducing.”

Can't wait for all these movies to arrive? Don't forget that Marvel's Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is released at Cineworld on February 17th. You can also check out our list of 2023 comic book movies.
