Unmissable comedies: Dirty Grandpa and more

After some big laughs and festive cheer in time for the new year? Then don't miss these comedies coming soon to Cineworld.

Our Brand is Crisis

What's the story? Sandra Bullock teams up with the makers of Argo for this provocative comedy-drama.

The year is 2002. An American political consulting firm, headed up by the feisty, determined Jane Bodine (Sandra Bullock), has been hired to help politician Pedro Castillo (Joaquim de Almeida) win the Bolivian presidential election.

However, Jane faces unexpected obstacles: not only does Castillo require ample media training but her old nemesis Pat Candy (Billy Bob Thornton) has appeared on the scene as a member of the opposition. As Jane battles to get her man into a position of power, the fate of an entire country hangs in the balance.

A fictionalised take on acclaimed documentary Our Brand Is Crisis, which explored the real-life tactics of consulting firm Greenberg Carville Schrum, this is a thought-provoking look at recent events. Produced by the team behind 2012 Oscar powerhouse Argo, the film is a fine showcase for the talents of Hollywood superstar Sandra Bullock.

Our Brand is Crisis opens on 22nd January 2016.

Ride Along 2

What's the story? Mismatched cops Ice Cube and Kevin Hart return in a riotous sequel to the action-comedy hit.

Bickering buddies Ben Barber (Kevin Hart) and James Payton (Ice Cube) are back! Annoying Ben is now a fully-fledged Atlanta cop who's engaged to long-suffering, tough-as-old-boots detective James's lovely sister, Angela (Tika Sumpter).

But just as this happy couple are preparing for their wedding, the unlikely cop partners are given a new assignment. Many of the drug dealers in Atlanta are being supplied by a Mr. Big named Antonio Pope (Benjamin Bratt), who operates out of Miami. The mission is to liaise with the Miami PD to take him down.

Now the stage is set for another explosive laugh riot, with larger-than-life Ben's hilarious undercover antics threatening to derail the entire investigation at every turn. X-Men's Olivia Munn and Hangover star Ken Jeong join the returning cast for this for this rib-tickling follow-up to the 2014 box office smash.

Ride Along 2 rides onto screens on 22nd January 2016.

Dirty Grandpa

What's the story? Robert De Niro and Zac Efron pair up for this outrageous road trip comedy.

Jason Kelly (Zac Efron) is one week away from marrying his boss’s uber-controlling daughter, putting him on the fast track for a partnership at the law firm. However, when the straight-laced Jason is tricked into driving his foul-mouthed grandfather, Dick (Robert De Niro), to Daytona for spring break, his pending nuptials are suddenly in jeopardy.

Between riotous frat parties, bar fights, and an epic night of karaoke, Dick is on a quest to live his life to the fullest and bring Jason along for the ride. Ultimately, on the wildest journey of their lives, "dirty" Grandpa and his uptight grandson discover they can learn from one another and form the bond they never had.

Dirty Grandpa is released on 29th January 2016.
