The Fast & Furious films have frequently welcomed big-name stars into their midst. But leading man Vin Diesel this week announced perhaps the coolest addition to the line-up: Hollywood legend Rita Moreno.
Ninety-year-old Moreno, best known for 1961's West Side Story (plus an appearance in Steven Spielberg's 2021 remake), will appear as Dominic Toretto's grandmother.
In a video posted on Diesel's Instagram page, Moreno said she was "thrilled" to join the movie, the tenth in the long-running series.
Moreno's character hasn't been named yet, and little is known about the story so far, but we do know that Dom's very much a family man, so woe betide anyone who threatens Grandma Toretto. Although if she's anything like her grandson, she'll be quite capable of looking after herself…
Fast X is still on track for release in May 2023, despite director Justin Lin stepping down last month. Incredible Hulk helmer Louis Leterrier is now in the driving seat to bring the movie screeching onto our screens next year.
