The Marvels poster promises a heroic team-up between Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel

The Marvels is a key chapter in Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). However, we're going to have to wait a bit longer for it: originally scheduled for July, the movie is now being moved back to November, as confirmed via the glossy new poster.

In the first Captain Marvel movie, released in 2019, Brie Larson's title character began life as a Kree warrior named Vers. However, she soon tapped into her memories of her past human life as human Air Force pilot Carol Danvers. At the same time, she realised that her allegiance to the Kree race was misplaced, eventually turning against her compatriots in favour of the nominal enemy, the Skrulls.

The Marvels, as the poster makes clear, pairs Captain Marvel with Iman Vellani's Ms. Marvel who has made a splash in the small-screen Disney+ show of the same name. The third party on the poster is Monica Rambeau, the now-grown-up daughter of Danvers' friend Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch, who appeared in the first Captain Marvel and will return here).

In the comics, Monica Rambeau embraced her superhero alter-ego Photon, so we'll anticipate the character's arrival on the big screen. The Marvels is directed by Candyman's Nia DaCosta and it arrives at Cineworld on November 10th.

In the meantime, Marvel Phase Five has kicked off with Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, on release now at Cineworld. The phase continues on May 5th with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the latest trailer for which premiered at the 2023 Super Bowl.
