Avengers 4 length teased by the Russo brothers

We now know that Avengers: Infinity War is the longest Marvel film at 149 minutes. But next year's sequel, currently untitled, could be even more gargantuan if directors the Russo brothers have their way. It was originally intended to be the second half of a wider story, before the decision was taken to split the two movies into two distinct parts.

In an interview with Collider, the filmmakers, also responsible for Captain America movies The Winter Soldier and Civil War, said the fourth instalment could be even more epic. And that's being economical, says Joe Russo.

"I'll say it could easily be a three-hour film, but I think that we're very hard on the material," says Joe Russo, "we like it to play at a certain pace. I'm sure that we'll squeeze it... I do think it will be longer than Avengers 3."

Given the amount of incident Infinity War has to pack into two and a half hours, with the besieged Avengers coming under attack from Thanos (Josh Brolin), what on Earth is contained within Avengers 4 to make it longer?

A Quiet Place reclaims the US box office #1 spot

For a film in which the characters have to maintain absolute silence, A Quiet Place is roaring loudly where it counts.

John Krasinski's critically acclaimed chiller, about a family under assault from creatures that prey on sound, last week lost the domestic box office top spot (just about) to Dwayne Johnson movie Rampage. Well this week it's made amends by jumping back up the charts, amassing a hugely impressive $22m this past weekend. (To put that in context, the movie's weekend takings alone are more than its $17m budget.)

Variety reports the Paramount sensation has now taken $132m domestically, making it one of their best performing movies in years. Internationally, Box Office Mojo reports the film has taken $207m – when measured against the film's relatively low budget, this makes it one of the most profitable releases of the year so far.

Austin Powers actor Verne Troyer dies

Farewell, Mini Me. The man who embodied one of the most famous comedy characters of recent years, Verne Troyer, has passed away at 49.

The news was announced via his social media accounts, and the following statement was made: "Verne was an extremely caring individual. He wanted to make everyone smile, be happy, and laugh. Anybody in need, he would help to any extent possible. Verne hoped he made a positive change with the platform he had and worked towards spreading that message every day."

Troyer was forever embodied as the pint-sized sidekick to Mike Myers' sneering Dr. Evil in the classic Austin Powers series, the blockbusting spy spoofs that ran from 1997 to 2002. (Troyer joined in 1999 sequel The Spy Who Shagged Me.) In honour of his memory, we've selected one of our favourite moments.
