A Star is Born
What's the story? 'A Star is Born' stars four-time Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper ('American Sniper,' 'American Hustle,' 'Silver Linings Playbook') and multiple award-winning, Oscar-nominated music superstar Lady Gaga, in her first leading role in a major motion picture. Cooper helms the drama, marking his directorial debut. In this new take on the tragic love story, he plays seasoned musician Jackson Maine, who discovers—and falls in love with—struggling artist Ally (Gaga). She has just about given up on her dream to make it big as a singer... until Jack coaxes her into the spotlight. But even as Ally's career takes off, the personal side of their relationship is breaking down, as Jack fights an on-going battle with his own internal demons.

Johnny English Strikes Again
What's the story? JOHNNY ENGLISH STRIKES AGAIN is the third instalment of the Johnny English comedy series, with Rowan Atkinson returning as the much loved accidental secret agent. The new adventure begins when a cyber-attack reveals the identity of all active undercover agents in Britain, leaving Johnny English as the secret service's last hope. Called out of retirement, English dives head first into action with the mission to find the mastermind hacker. As a man with few skills and analogue methods, Johnny English must overcome the challenges of modern technology to make this mission a success.

Blindspotting (limited release)
What's the story? Lifelong friends Daveed Diggs and Rafael Casal co-wrote and star in this timely and wildly entertaining story about the intersection of race and class set against the backdrop of a rapidly gentrifying Oakland.

Secret Unlimited Screening #9 (Monday 8th October, 7.30pm)
What's the story? Take a giant leap into the unknown and see a secret screening of a major film before general release. Cineworld is screening a mystery film for its Unlimited members once more! Turn up on the day with your ticket and Unlimited Card to catch a major film ahead of its official UK release. The screening is for Unlimited members only so make sure your side-kick is an Unlimited member too. Fly in and join us for a wild ride, your fellow Unlimited members are depending on you. The film is screening at all Cineworld cinemas apart from Glasgow Science Centre (It's playing at Renfrew Street, Parkhead, and Silverburn) and Cheltenham Screening Rooms (though it's playing in Cheltenham!). Please note, due to expected certificate limitations, children under 15 will not be admitted to the screening.

Autism Friendly Screening: Christopher Robin (Sunday 7th October)
What's the story? Autism Friendly screenings at Cineworld differ from regular screenings. Some of the key differences are: Lighting will be kept on during the screening. Volume levels will be reduced. There will be no advertisements or trailers. Seating will not be allocated. Customers will be allowed to bring in their own food. Screenings will be at 11am on the first Sunday of every month. For further information please ask in your local cinema.

Andhadhun (Hindi)
What's the story? A blind pianist. A woman blinded by desire. A crime they never saw coming. When you are blind, the world talks to you in a dozen different ways, and if you listen, there is music in everything. AKASH, a blind pianist in Pune, is hopelessly stuck trying to compose his own tunes. A chance encounter introduces him to Sophie, a free spirited girl whose father owns a piano bar. Akash starts performing at the bar, his tunes flowing fast and true, thanks to his new muse, Sophie. Retired Bollywood star Pramod Sinha is impressed by Akash and invites him to a private concert at his condo. Lady luck is finally smiling on Akash. But Akash is about to find out that Lady Luck can also be fickle. For at Pramod's house Akash encounters his wife Simi, a beautiful woman with a dark secret. And in the blink of an eye, Akash finds himself among deadly characters, each blinded by love, greed, desire and sheer survival. Andhadhun is a cocktail of music, murder and madness.

Afsar (Punjabi)
What's the story? Afsar a family drama takes a humorous look at love, marriage and employment. Jaspal (Tarsem Jassar) is a senior government officer in love with Harman (Nimrat Khaira) a school teacher. Jaspal on paper is the ideal son-in-law material, good looking, caring and with the ability to financially support Harman. Only problem is Harman's dad wants a son-in-law who holds the position of a Patwari (lower government officer) because he believes that post has more status and power. Jaspal and Harman are confused with the situation and realise the only way their marriage will go ahead is if Jaspal is demoted to the lower position of a Patwari. Despite the difficulties they continue dating each other confident that they will convince Harman's stubborn father to agree to the marriage. But when Jaspal is accused of being unfaithful, Harman angrily agrees to marry a man of her father's choice. Jaspal is now left in a quandary: does he prove his innocence to Harman or fulfil her father's wish of becoming a Patwari? Most importantly will he end up marrying Harman?

MET Opera 2018: Aida (Saturday 6th October, 5.55pm)
What's the story? Superstar soprano Anna Netrebko makes her Met role debut as Aida in this thirtieth-anniversary revival of Sonja Frisell's production. Verdi's drama is set in Ancient Egypt, where the Ethiopian Aida lives a life of slavery. She and the Egyptian warrior Radames, sung by tenor Aleksandrs Antonenko, have fallen in love, although the princess Amneris—mezzo-soprano Anita Rachvelishvili—is an implacable rival for Radames's affections. Then, when Radames goes into battle, he unwittingly captures Aida's father as a prisoner of war. As Aida and Radames face impossible choices between patriotism, passion, and paternal bonds, the stage is set for tragedy. With heart-stopping music and spectacular set pieces, including the famous Triumphal March, Verdi's towering masterpiece opens the new Live in HD season with a bang.

Oscar Wilde season live: The Importance of Being Earnest (Tuesday 9th October, 7.15pm)
What's the story? A new production of one of the funniest plays in English, Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest, will be broadcast live to cinemas from the Vaudeville Theatre in London's West End. Wilde's much-loved masterpiece throws love, logic and language into the air to make one of theatre's most dazzling firework displays. Jack, Algy, Gwendolyn and Cecily discover how unsmooth runs the course of true love, while Lady Bracknell keeps a baleful eye on the mayhem of manners. This is the fourth and final play from the Oscar Wilde Season, a year-long celebration of the brilliant Victorian playwright being staged by the Classic Spring Theatre Company.

Halloween – 40th anniversary re-issue (Wednesday 10th October, 8.30pm)
What's the story? Coming to cinemas this October is the 40th Anniversary release of John Carpenter's Halloween, including an interview and retrospective with filmmaker John Carpenter. John Carpenter's HALLOWEEN premiered on October 25, 1978, not in Los Angeles with a big event at Mann's Chinese Theatre - instead it opened in Kansas City. It did quite well there and opened up in Chicago, and then earned showings in New York. From there, it had a platform release across the country, playing in different cities at different times. Over 40 years later, the movie has made its money back more than 200 times! This earned it the title of the most successful independent horror movie of all time. It's one of the most successful independent flicks overall, behind Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Blair Witch Project.

Screen Anime: MFKZ (Thursday 11th October, 8pm)
What's the story? Genre-mashup MFKZ is the love-child of French comic artist Guillaume 'Run' Renard and ultra-hip Japanese animation house Studio 4oC, creators of Tekkonkinkreet, Genius Party and Mind Game. The Tekkonkinkreet dream team of Shoujirou Nishimi and art director Shinji Kimura reunite to bring to life a dark but stunningly animated sci-fi vision that mixes anime, film noir, lucha libre, and gang culture in an orgy of first-person shooter mayhem. The film centres on young Angelino and his skull-and-flame pal Vinny, who live in a seedy tenement in an LA-inspired dystopian metropolis -- a burnt-out, gang and cockroach-ridden neo-urban hell that makes Blade Runner's LA seem like The Brady Bunch. Following a scooter accident Angelino starts experiencing migraines and strange hallucinations, as well as fits of rage-inspired superpowers, as he slowly awakens to the truth of his origins: he is half human and half Macho, a supernatural alien race that is bent on taking over the planet.
