Calling all Dark Knights and Caped Crusaders. We have a special Cineworld treat for you this September in the form of Batman Day whereby we're screening three Batman movie classics back to back. Here's what you need to know.
When is Batman Day?
Batman Day takes place at Cineworld cinemas on September 16th and we have an additional screening on September 17th. (More details below.)
What movies are showing as part of Batman Day?
On September 16th, we're screening Christopher Nolan's moody modern classic The Dark Knight in line with its 15th anniversary. Christian Bale's Batman is pitted against Heath Ledger's anarchic, incendiary Joker in a thrilling and groundbreaking comic book epic that recalibrates the Batman mythology as a layered and emotional crime saga.
Also on September 16th, you can enjoy Tim Burton's trend-setting 1989 hit Batman. The movie is defined as one of the grandfathers of the comic book movie and established the superhero genre as a viable blockbuster property, soaring off the back of Michael Keaton's Batman, Jack Nicholson's Joker and Danny Elfman's thunderous score.
And on September 17th, we're showcasing Joaquin Phoenix's Oscar-winning performance in Joker. The famously intense actor re-imagines Batman's dreaded nemesis in this melancholic and gripping origin story, which posits the Joker as failed clown Arthur Fleck whose path of vengeance threatens to implode Gotham from the inside.
Are the movies showing in premium formats at Cineworld?
We're delighted to announce that The Dark Knight will be playing in 4DX at Cineworld. This unique multi-sensory format, exclusive to Cineworld cinemas in the UK and Ireland, invests Nolan's grandiose vision with added physicality, deploying motion-controlled seats and immersive effects (wind, water, scents) to pull you even further into Batman's conflict with the Joker.
