Our first Secret Screening in nearly two years got underway last night, and Cineworlders were thrilled to discover it was the new Ryan Reynolds adventure Free Guy.
The Deadpool star plays a NPC (non-player-character) in a videogame simulation named... Guy. This likeable dork is completely unaware that he exists within a simulation, until odd occurrences awaken him to the hilarious and surreal reality. The excellent cast also includes Killing Eve's Jodie Comer and Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi.
The action-packed movie has already been praised by critics for its fast-paced humour, exciting set-pieces and surprising amount of emotional heart. Cineworlders were, therefore, primed when the title card came up at the beginning of the screening. And it's a delight to report that the responses to Free Guy were highly enthusiastic. Here's a small sampling of them.

Thoroughly enjoyed it and one cameo had the entire audience WOOP.! out loud. Tron meets Ready Player One for the gaming generation.
Top film, was definitely a ‘yes’ from the room when the name came up at the start. Plenty of action, funny, great leads and the best cameo ever!
