Toho Studios' legendary movie monster Godzilla is back on the big screen this week in Godzilla Minus One. Put all thoughts of the English-language 'MonsterVerse' blockbusters out of your mind. In the manner of the original 1954 Godzilla, the new movie deals with the atomic fallout of World War II. In the wake of the American attack on Nagasaki and Hiroshima, the shell-shocked Japanese citizens are then forced to contend with another threat in the form of the mutated, overwhelming Godzilla who is nothing less than an emblem of the country's atomic trauma.
