Oppenheimer featurette pushes the button on Christopher Nolan's explosive summer blockbuster

A single spark changes the entire world in this month's must-see blockbuster thriller, Oppenheimer. The movie dramatises the life of pioneering scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer (played by Cillian Murphy), primarily his role in the creation of the atomic bomb. It was an apocalyptic moment in human history that presaged a new era of warfare and weaponry, initiated by an individual whose desire for the greater good metastasized into something far greater than he ever imagined.

Directed by Christopher Nolan, the movie takes us inside Oppenheimer's top-secret experiments that were conducted in the New Mexico desert. An all-star cast puts a human face on the individuals who helped shape Oppenheimer's life, his scientific achievements and his eventual interrogation when the nature of his creation became starkly clear to the US government.

Emily Blunt plays Oppenheimer's wife Kitty, flanked by Matt Damon as Colonel Leslie Groves, Florence Pugh as Oppenheimer's Communist Party lover Jean Tatlock and Robert Downey Jr. as Atomic Energy Commission chairman Lewis Strauss. Combine those formidable talents with that of Nolan and his regular cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema, with whom he's shot the film on IMAX cameras, and you can see why Oppenheimer is poised to ignite the summer movie season.

Go behind the scenes with all of the above names, plus producer Emma Thomas, special effects coordinator Andrew Jackson and others, to discover how Oppenheimer will push the button and fire up fresh interest in this monumental moment in human history.
