Romantic movies to make you swoon:

  • Magic Mike's Last Dance

Channing Tatum raises pulses and loses his clothes again in the third, and purportedly final, instalment of the hit male stripping series. Tatum returns to his signature role as Magic Mike, the one-time stripping sensation whose dancing career has now gone on the skids. An invitation to an outrageous dance show in London, spearheaded by Salma Hayek's sultry socialite, may be all Mike needs to get back in the game.

Tatum and Hayek generate sparks as Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh marshals the chemistry and the romance in the first Magic Mike movie he's helmed since the 2012 original.

  • Titanic (25th-anniversary 4K 3D re-release)

James Cameron's blockbusting romantic epic defines Valentine's Day. Who could resist another excursion about the extraordinary Titanic in time for the movie's 25th anniversary? Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet are the star-crossed lovers Jack and Rose whose journey aboard the maiden voyage of the Titanic proves life-changing in more ways than one.

The romantic melodrama and visual spectacle of Cameron's groundbreaking epic now gets a handsome new sheen courtesy of the movie's 4K re-release. Truly, the movie and its Oscar-winning soundtrack have never looked or sounded better. The movie's new 3D presentation promises to pull you even further into the lives of Jack, Rose and the rest of the Titanic's passengers, allowing one to better appreciate Cameron's astonishing mixture of practical effects, CGI and heightened emotion.

Must-see alternatives to romance:

  • Puss in Boots: The Last Wish

Antonio Banderas' irresistible swashbuckling moggie is on another colourful and lively adventure. This time, the plucky Puss must seek to restore the lives he has lost, working with cohort Kitty Softpaws (Salma Hayek) to seek out the fabled Wishing Star.

  • The Whale

The 'Brenaissance' is upon us courtesy of Brendan Fraser's triumphant comeback movie. Fraser has landed his first Oscar nomination for his engrossing turn as Charlie, an obese and isolated English teacher who is seeking reconciliation with his estranged daughter Ellie (Stranger Things' Sadie Sink).

Director Darren Aronofsky conjures the claustrophobic, intimate and devastating tone of his acclaimed film The Wrestler while giving Fraser the extraordinary platform he deserves. Oscar nominee Hong Chau and Samantha Morton round out the excellent cast.
