The Little Mermaid: new poster and trailer for Disney's upcoming remake

Disney's The Little Mermaid gets a glossy, lung-busting remake this May, and the newly released trailer teases what's on offer. Before that, however, here's the new poster teasing Halle Bailey's new take on the iconic Ariel.

As you can see, Ariel is flanked by the new big-screen iterations of King Triton (Javier Bardem), Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King) and the diabolical Ursula (Melissa McCarthy), the last of whom grants Ariel her wish to walk among the humans.

Director Rob Marshall has past form in the live-action Disney area, having helmed Mary Poppins Returns to winning effect back in 2018. The composer of the original The Little Mermaid, Alan Menken, returns to the realm that he helped define in Oscar-winning fashion. Menken is set to build on the classic songs he helped establish with the late Howard Ashman, including 'Under the Sea' and 'Part of Your World', which Bailey performs in the trailer.

Speaking of which, here is the preview that also teases the vocal talents of Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Awkwafina as Scuttle and Daveed Diggs as Sebastian. Check it out and prepare to be swept away by The Little Mermaid at Cineworld from May 26th.
