Candyman: go behind the scenes of the new horror movie

Dare you say his name five times? The infamous hook-handed killer Candyman returns this week in the 'spiritual sequel' of the same name. It continues the legacy of the acclaimed 1992 horror movie in which the vengeful spirit of a lynch-mobbed slave haunts the Chicago slum district of Cabrini Green.

Nearly three decades later, Cabrini Green has been gentrified and young artist Anthony (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) has moved to the area with his girlfriend Brianna (Teyonah Parris). Anthony is intrigued by the Candyman legend and sets about capturing the horror via his own art installation. But unbeknownst to Anthony, he has a deep-seated connection to Candyman, and his summoning of the wrathful killer unleashes bloody chaos.

The latest Candyman movie has its finger on the pulse by interweaving themes of police brutality into a brand new iteration of the legend. Top Boy director Nia DaCosta joins forces with Oscar-winning Get Out and Us filmmaker Jordan Peele for a shocker that's set to scare and provoke in equal measure. Here's a couple of behind the scenes videos teasing what you can expect.

Candyman is released in Cineworld cinemas on 27th August.
