The Suicide Squad: how social media has reacted to the new DC Comics blockbuster

The new DC Comics blockbuster The Suicide Squad arrived at Cineworld cinemas last week in all its lip-curling, gun-toting glory. And those who've been to see James Gunn's dystopian thriller unfurl on the big screen have wasted no time in sharing their opinions on social media.

In case you don't know, the movie stars Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Idris Elba as Bloodsport, John Cena as Peacemaker and Peter Capaldi as The Thinker, while Sylvester Stallone lends his voice to King Shark. That's an impressive cast alright! Add in the fact that the film cost $175million to make, and you'd expect it to be a real humdinger.

But what have movie fans had to say about The Suicide Squad? Here are a selection of tweets...

First up, we have this film fan, who's been to see the movie twice and absolutely loves it...

This viewer paid their first visit to the cinema in a long time, especially to see this DC release, and didn't regret their decision...

As for this viewer, they thought that James Gunn's movie was much better than the David Ayer version that was released five years ago...

This customer made a family occasion of it, and came out of the cinema feeling very satisfied...

And this film fan was another who gave the new film a massive thumbs-up...

As to be expected, though, not everyone came away with a smile on their face...

And this viewer was left feeling underwhelmed, too...

On the whole, though, the comments have been overwhelmingly positive, summed up by this gushing review...
